I'm listening to my favorite song right now and felt that during the holiday season I should share this song with everyone! A few years back I had the opportunity to volunteer at a very special place called the Christmas Box House, in Salt Lake. I have never had thought I could hold more love in my heart for the sweet innocent children. I spent a few hours at the Christmas Box House. I remember holding a sweet little girl who was 15 months old. She had been in a domestic violence household and had been placed in the Christmas Box house with her two siblings. I watched as a girl about my age at the time walked into the room and held her arms out to the little girl. Quickly the supervisor in the house asked me not to let the girl hold this little girl. I was shocked by the request, I followed the instructions and let the girl talk to the little girl but did as I was told to not let the girl hold this little girl. Later I found out more about "Lily"(Don't remember name) this girl my age that had walked in was part of her family, she was allowed to visit her sisters and brother but not aloud any physical contact. She had been a part of the domestic violence and was being investigated. I think back to that day and wonder where that little girl is and how her life is.
Children all over the world experiencing hard lives makes me sad when in reality these kids are happy. You see those sad commercials about donations although many are in need, a lot of the people have the bare necessities of life and are amazing people. They are so grateful for everything they have and so willing to help others in need. These people are great people who are happy to have everything they receive and always have a smile.
A song by Carrie Underwood called Change always seems to hit my heart hard. This is such a wonderful song to remind us all about the needy in the world and what we need to remember. We are so blessed!
